Good morning principal, teachers and fellow schoolmates,
I’m Simone Chau of 3A. Recently, most people in society have had a bad habit of eating unhealthy food. Today, I am going to share with you how to start to form a healthier eating habit.
First and foremost, controlling the amount of junk food consumed is important. We can find fast food shops everywhere, but we should say no to the temptations. Does junk food have plenty of vitamins? No. What do we absorb while eating them? Fat! I’m sure that no one wants to get fat. No one wants to see a chubby belly when looking into the mirror. We have to know our limits and stop eating too much oily food. Don’t go beyond our limits.
What’s more, never skip meals. Nowadays, many students skip breakfast. Many of them do this as they think they can shed pounds by eating less. Or maybe they just don’t feel hungry in the morning. It’s crucial for us to know that having breakfast keeps our metabolism going and keeps it active throughout the morning. Yet, skipping breakfast may kick off the “starvation response”. Our brain gives out a signal to our body. It’s like a complaint. “There is no food! It has been hours! It is a famine!” The next time we eat, our body will try to store as much fat as it possibly can. This can lead to binge eating during lunch time. Obviously, eating a small amount of food is better than having no breakfast. If you don’t feel up to a full meal, at least drink some water and eat a piece of fruit, a granola bar, or a piece of toast.
To conclude, there are many steps of forming a healthy eating habit. What I have shared with you today is the first two important steps you should take if you want to maintain a better health. Of course, there are a lot of things we need to do such as eating according to the food pyramid. Let’s eat healthily and stay healthy. Thank you.
