Good morning principal, teachers and fellow schoolmates, I am John Cheng from class 4D. Today, I am very glad to speak on behalf of my class to talk about one of our core value, Endeavour.

No matter you are form 1 or form 6 students, I am sure all of you know that the word “endeavor” is the word that our Principal Choi likes most. Endeavour means we try very hard or try our best to do something. Whenever we encounter difficulties, we should not give up easily. Endeavour is a positive attitude that we should have in our daily lives.

We are all students, study is our responsibility. I believe everyone here have heard about an old saying, failure is the mother of success. By trying again and again, we can learn right from wrong. We can get the key of success from mistakes. A negative mind will never give you a positive life.

Without doubt, people who give up easily will never succeed. Take Thomas Edison as an example. He did thousands of experiments, and he finally invented the light bulb successfully. If he gave up his experiment with only a few times of failure, we would not have our lights at our home now.

It is said that “No pain, no gain”. It’s right. Of course, giving up is easy and on the contrary, working hard is tiring. However, it is proved that that sustained effort brings success. If you don’t try, how can you taste the fruit of success? The fruit of success will be sweet only when endless effort is paid.

Apart from the above mentioned, let me take studying as an example. Many junior secondary students find it difficult to adapt to the new studying environment and atmosphere of secondary school life. The first term test had passed, if you find that your result is not satisfactory, don’t give up now. Remember the famous quote by Martin Luther King from his speech “I have a dream”,: If you can’t fly then run, if you can’t run then walk, if you can’t walk then crawl, but whatever you do, you have to keep moving forward. Then, success will be in front of you.

If you fail now, it doesn’t mean that you are a loser. If you endeavor, you will eventually succeed. Passing the tests and exams with flying colour is not as difficult as we imagine. Endeavour is one of the key elements to the road of success. We gain experience from failure. Even though we fail, we learn something. But we have to promise ourselves that we should not make the same error the next time.

To conclude, always end your day with a positive thought. No matter how things are, tomorrow is another chance to make things better. No matter what, never give up. Make every endeavour to strike for success. This is the end my sharing, thank you.
