Good morning principal, teachers and fellow schoolmates, I am Ken Lee from 6C. On behalf of my class, it is my honour to have a chance to give a speech. In the last two weeks, representatives from 6A and 6B spoke about two services of Tung Wah Group of Hospitals. They are to promote education and nurturing the youngsters, to raise infants and to guide youth. This week, it is our turn to discuss what Tung Wah Group has done on healing the sick and relieving the distressed.

As all of us know that Tung Wah has been delivering its best services in collaboration with the Government since 1872.  We appreciate its mission ‘to heal the sick and to relieve the distressed’ ; Tung Wah has been providing free general outpatient services for over a century. People of all ages, from children to the elderly, over one million free consultations are provided to the local community every year. Patients do not have to pay anything, and they can receive medical services. The charges are paid by fund raised by the Board of Directors. Tung Wah spares no effort to help the needy. Indeed, Tung Wah cares all walks of life.

One of its great successes is to integrate Chinese and Western medicine services. In order to have a higher therapy efficiency, Tung Wah Group is the first hospital authority that successfully combines the use of Chinese and Western medicine. Such types of treatment centres was established in 2006.  Many patients have been cured especially the elderly who firmly believe in traditional Chinese treatment.

Of course, helping so many people inneed requires great amount of resources. Tung Wah counts on your support and donations to finance the free medical services. Let’s lend our helping hands to the needy! That’s all. Thank you.
